Why are we serving here?

One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our neighbors is by serving those non-profit organizations who are actively working every day in the lives of people in Columbia. The American Red Cross is a national organization with a local presence that plays a powerful role in saving lives in our community by ensuring our local hospitals are well-supplied with blood for transfusions and other needs. We were approached by this organization to serve at their location and to help them better welcome the individuals donating blood; this is why we think your time will be well spent serving at this location.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia volunteers will be working inside at this organization painting spaces in their building where volunteers spend time as they are donating blood, creating a space for families in need of Red Cross services to feel welcomed, safe and valued.

What should I bring?

  • We encourage all volunteers to wear close-toed shoes, and clothing you’re comfortable painting in.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia2020 T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

No; because the only work being done at this site is painting, this is not an appropriate site for elementary-aged children.
