Why are we serving here?

ForColumbia’s mission – to bring Christians together to love and serve our neighbors – puts us in touch with those in Columbia who are more marginalized; the chronically poor, the elderly, single-parent households, those with disabilities. This year, we are serving an eastern low-income neighborhood. When we give our time for the benefit of others, we send the message that they are valuable.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia volunteers will be working outside:

  • building/repairing raised bed gardens for a few residents;
  • helping residents haul away large trash items;
  • hosting a Planting Day and BBQ for area residents, to include kids’ activities;
  • picking up trash in the area;
  • helping with other projects as identified.
Don't forget to wear your T-shirt!

What should I bring?

All supplies will be provided by ForColumbia.

  • Come prepared to work outside; if sunny, we encourage you to consider bringing bug spray, sunscreen and/or a hat.
  • We encourage all volunteers to wear close-toed shoes.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia2019 T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Yes, this is a kid-friendly serving project.
