Why are we serving here?

One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our neighbors is by serving those who are actively working every day in the lives of people in Columbia. Phoenix House offers intensive residential treatment at their facility to men and women dealing with addictions to drugs or alcohol. We’re excited to serve this non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of those entrenched in substance abuse. Additionally, individuals struggling with addiction are at a low point in their lives; when we find ways to serve people at their low point, we communicate the grace of God. This is why we believe your day will be well spent serving at Phoenix House.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia volunteers will be working both inside and outdoors at this facility:

  • painting the dining area and stairwells;
  • power washing, cleaning and painting in the breezeway area outside;
  • spreading mulch around trees and other outside garden beds;
  • installing basketball hoop and painting stripes for half-court;
  • improving water run-off by spreading rock at back of property;
  • building two terraced vegetable gardens.
