Why am I serving here?

One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our neighbors is by serving those non-profit organizations that are actively working every day in the lives of people in Columbia. St. Raymond’s Society is one of those organizations working quietly but powerfully every day for the good of those in our community. This organization comes alongside women who choose life for their unborn child, supporting them during and after the pregnancy.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia volunteers will be working inside and outside at this location:

  • installing shelving and then painting laundry room;
  • installing a new sink, garbage disposal and faucet;
  • fixing drainage pipes in basement;
  • cleaning and painting the office space;
  • staining the deck;
  • raking leaves and spreading mulch, cleaning up yard in general.

What should I bring?

  • We encourage all volunteers to wear close-toed shoes, as well as clothing you are comfortable painting in.
  • If you have small garden hand tools or rakes for spreading mulch, feel free to bring them, as well as work gloves.
  • Be prepared for a sunny day by bringing sunscreen and/or a hat.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia2020 T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Older children can serve at this site, but because a lot of the work involves tools and painting, we do not necessarily encourage children younger than 10 at this side. We also ask that children not be allowed to paint.
