Thanks to all of our volunteers!

This year’s work at St. Raymond’s Society truly represented a community effort, as 50+ volunteers from ten different churches worked side by side to transform a small residential property used by this non-profit to house women who are choosing to have their child despite trying circumstances in their lives. In addition to the remarkable cooperation of many church partners, we want to give Kliethermes our deep gratitude for partnering with us on some critical remodeling work in the basement; this work was done in advance of our April serving date, which allowed us to send in a large volunteer team to finish up the details and really give St. Raymond’s a new look!

Why did we serve here?

St. Raymond’s Society is a local non-profit that supports mothers who have chosen life for their child, providing resources families need to become self-sufficient and helping them to provide a stable home. St. Raymond’s manages three transitional homes in Missouri which provide stability for expectant mothers in the most need, including one in Columbia. We were very excited to add this organization to our 2018 list of serving sites; when you spend time serving people going through trying seasons of life, you send the message that they are valuable.

What got done?

Volunteers worked both indoors and outside on this property to:

  • remodel the basement, paint the entire space, hang lighting and install flooring;
  • paint several rooms in the upstairs area, including the main living spaces;
  • spread mulch and plant flowers, and well as spread gravel for additional parking space.
