Why are we serving here?

One of the rewarding ways in which ForColumbia serves its city is by bringing Christians together to serve other churches that are actively working every day in the lives of people in Columbia. Sugar Grove Missionary Baptist Church is a congregation situated in Columbia’s Third Ward, meeting weekly in one of our city’s oldest church buildings, on the outskirts of town. We want to offer to make light work with many hands for this faithful congregation as we serve alongside them in a day of spring cleaning on their property. This is why we think your day will be well spent serving at Sugar Grove Missionary Baptist.

What can I expect?

Volunteers will be working outside staining a large shelter behind the church property.

What should I bring?

ForColumbia will provide all supplies needed for this work.

  • Volunteers should bring work gloves.
  • Come prepared to work outside; if sunny, we encourage you to consider bringing sunscreen and/or a hat.
  • Dress appropriately for staining.
  • We encourage all volunteers to wear close-toed shoes.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia2018 T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Yes, this is a great site for children, as there is a nearby playground. However, we ask that children not be allowed to stain.
